Solutions

Expert Solution

3. (A)Sperm production

Testes are also known as the male gonads. Their main function is to produce the male sex hormone and produce sperm or male gametes.

4.(D) 4

From one germ cell, 4 sperms are made. The germ cell goes under meiosis cell division, In meiosis I the germ cell divides into 2 haploid secondary spermatocytes and then goes for meiosis II division and those 2 secondary spermatocyte divides and form 4 spermatids which after maturation forms sperm.

5. (B)Adding seminal fluid to the sperm.

The main function of prostate is to provide volume for the semen which it contributes around 50-60% apart from they also provide nutrients to the sperm and an alkaline environment to help them from vaginal acidity.

6.(B) Release of secondary oocyte.

Ovulation is the process in which the secondary oocytes releases or the female egg that are arrested in metaphase II if they find any sperm then it will lead to fertilization or else it will come out with the menstrual flow.

7.(C) Implantation

Implantation is a process that happens after the fertilization where the developing embryo attaches itself to the uterus of the mother to get nutrition and safety until the end of the gestation period. Implantation happens at the blastocyst stage and occurs in two weeks after the fertilization.

8. (D) both A and B

Copying of chromosome takes place to before the cell goes under division and they are called as sister chromatids It takes place in the S phase of the interphase, The whole chromosome is copied. They take place before type of cell division meiosis and mitosis but in meiosis it happens only in meiosis I while meiosis II lacks the S phase.
