A). Oral feeding route is also known as enteral feeding , To intake of food / nutrition via gastero intestinal tract.

Entreral feeding means that nutrition taken through a tubes goes directly to the stomach or small intestine.
Through tube feedings to receive nutrition and keep in GI tract. Enteral feeding may make up thier entire caloric intake or may used as supplement.

Indication :- when a person unable to eat physically due to any disease or can't eat safely.

Types of enteral feedings:-

01. Nasogastric tube :- A tube insert through nose and ends upto stomach. (Exact placement by X-Ray )

02. Orogastric tube:- starts from mouth ends up in stomach. Requires endoscopy to place tubes

03:- Gastrostomy:- Tubes takes placed trough skin of the abdomen straight to stomach;( subtypes :- PEG, PRG and button tubes.) Done under general anasthesia requirements of endoscopic visualisation.

04 :- jejunostomy :- Tubes takes placed through skin of the abdomen straight into intestines( subtypes ;- PEJ and PRJ tubes)

05:- parenteral Route:- parentral feeding prefer to patients who unable to take enteral feeding . If patient have risk of malnutrition and don't have a functional GI system.
Then perfer route is parentral feeding gives nutrition through viens .

such as a port or a peripherally inserted central catheter ( PICC OR PIC line , inserted so patient can receive liquid nutrition directly into veins.

Note :- when a patient getting thier all nutrition through IV often called total parentral nutrition.

(TPN).

A). To provide adequate nourishment to patient who cannot feed themselves.

b). To administer medication.

c).To provide nutrition a patient who unable to feed by mouth. Like surgery of oral cavity, head neck injury, sever anorexia nervosa etc.

1. Nasogastric tube ( fine bore) .

2.lubricants and gauze :- for lubricanton of tip of ng tube.

3. Disposable bowl :- use when incident of vomiting.

4. Paper towels :- to wipe around tube

5. Large syringe:- To aspirate from the gn tube

6. PH testing strips :- to asses aspirate ph.

7. Dressing :- to secure ng tube.

08.A glass of water need if patient swallow is deemed safe.

9. Loca anasthetic spray :- to numb the orophyranx
