According to functionalist perspective all the components of the society work in synergy in order to functions as a complete unit.
According to this perspective gender is an important bifurcation that exists in order to distribute efficiently and according to finesse the tasks within the society to have a stable functionality.
According to conflict theorists there is a conflict that exists between the dominant group and the subordinate group, in order to keep things a certain way.
In gender, the dominant group is the men and the subordinate group, the women. The society thus, remains in a fluc wherein the man tries to retain his power and control over the women, and the women fight back to regain a stance of power within the society.
According to symbolic interactionists that through certain symbols and interaction role and individuals are defined and a lens is formed from which to look at the society.
The gender is defined according to the normative symbols and interaction that take place everyday that reinforce the similar roles of the two genders within a given society.
