Solutions

Expert Solution

conflict theory and functionalist theory are two main theories of sociology. In functionalist theory it states that culture is made up of interacting, interdependant parts. Each part is responsible for maintaining the society of a system as a whole. The shared values and expectations help hold the society together.Conflict theory is centred on the tension and conflict that goes on in everday lifeThe society promotes general differences in wealth, power and prestige that are qualities of people what they desire. The assumption is that different parts of the social system are together because of one group inherently dominant over the other. In a society there are peope who benefit and some do not where conflict gives advantage to the beneficial.Conflict theory states that to understand the society one has to realize who holds the power and who has the ability to use it.Gender differences are viewed from functionalism as to create division and specialization of cooperative labour into specific tasks and roles.
