topic is plagiriasm. how familiar will your audience likely be with this topic? are there any terms or concepts that are key to understanding the topic? what concept associated with the topic would benefit from a visual aid? explain. what type of visual aid would be most effective in illustrating the concept? a chart? graph, diagram, map, film clip or object? why would this type of visual aid be more effective than other kinds? what method could be used to display the visual?
The audience would likely be pretty familiar with the topic- at least in the definition sense. Most of us already know what plagiarism in its broad sense it.
Yes. Terms such as copying, inspiration, lifting, dishonesty, coincidence etc are some terms and concepts that are key to understanding the topic.
A graph or chart that can depict the similarities between the original and the plagiarized material will be of great help as a visual aid. With its help one would be very clearly able to see the extent of similarities between the two and decide whether the similarities are enough to consider the material plagiarized.
As explained above, this visual aid will tell the audience how much the two- original and new, are same- quantitatively. Its intuitive, for example, that 5% match is not necessarily plagiarized but 60% definitely is.
The method to present this in the visual aid could be showing, in a chart, how many words or sentences are similar in both- in percentage terms. We could also highlight sections which are copy of each other as side by side. One can also show a statistic of older proven plagiarized products and how much they were similar to their original material (we can even show this average level in plagiarized product as threshold).
