Introduction- Fake sale is a problem not only in a particular region but world wide. Steps are taken to keep a thorough check on such activities that the market is safe from it. Fake sale is commonly practiced in e-commerce market. Since e-commerce marketing is making its place in the retail industry rapidly with it emerges a need to inspect the regulation of fake goods from different online portals.
Literature review- In UAE fake sale is prohibited and strict check on it kept by UAE law. The consumer rights of the buyers are protected whether the goods are purchased from direct retailing or e-commerce. Different studies on the practice of fake selling is done to figure out the measures that can be taken to erase this practice. Though the government and companies have identified the problem they are facing through the illicit market, they are unable to find out the root cause and steps to eradicate it fully. Laws are formed that help in stopping these counterfeit products from entering the market and making their place. Rights of manufacturers, consumers and brand owners are protected by taking these steps.
Methodology- the methodology is the steps taken by the government and department of economic development of UAE (DED) to erase the practice of fake selling in the UAE market. DED takes measures to scrutinize the sales through e-commerce and direct retailing to prevent market of illicit goods making its place. They take steps to protect the consumer rights in the e-commerce market. They have signed an agreement with Souq.com which is the larget e-commerce market in the UAE to protect the consumer rights from fraud marketing practices. With this collaboration innovative measures are taken to prevent the illicit market practices to enter the retail world.
Analysis and finding- DED had launched an advisory board that works on checking the counterfeit goods from entering the market and providing original brands to consumers. In this way it helps to strengthen the position of UAE commerce worldwide and portraits its image as safe for manufacturers are consumers by protecting their rights in the market. It has made a law wherein the customers facing the issues of fraud goods sold to them can bring the issue up and actions will be taken to get the goods replaced from the buyer. Also the retailers can scrutinize their supply from the manufacturer of the goods to be original. The law gives rights to consumers to receive compensation on a complaint filed for fake goods. The customer also has the right to sue the company is case of fraud practices.
Conclusion- these practices of protecting consumer rights in the market of UAE gives it a strong position to stand for its originality in the global market of retail and e-commerce. Laws made by the DED help consumers, manufacturers and brand owners build a trust for the goods they purchase. The market value strengthens globally as well as locally and the practice of illicit market will be eradicated upto a great extent.
