A team leader is someone who provides direction, instructions and guidance to a group of individuals, who can also be known as a team, for the purpose of achieving a certain goal. An effective leader will know her team members' strengths, weaknesses and motivations.
Roles
Team leaders serve various roles in an organization. Their job is to get tasks done by using all of the resources available to them, including other employees or team members. Below is a list of some important roles a team leader must often take on:
Develop a strategy the team will use to reach its goal
Provide any training that team members need
Communicate clear instructions to team members
Listen to team members' feedback
Monitor team members' participation to ensure the training they are being provided is being put into use, and also to see if any additional training is needed.
I would like to co relate with my current work experience with my BAU activities, as my leaders are playing exemplary roles in connecting with their employees. Every week newsletter published by corporate office, virtual town hall by MD/CEO during this pandemic situation and one thing which really fascinate me and fill with the passion of great place to work is that my all leaders are keeping their employee engaged and employee engagement.
One thing which helps in doing this is virtual learning which support us in learning the the new world programme is designed to help us to discover new ways of doing things, lead virtual teams, strike the balance between work and home, and deal with the challenges of new emotions and a different environment.
Medical bulletins released by Chief Medical Officer is also very engaging and building confidence among employees as how together we can fight against this pandemic situation. HR also plays vital role in leadership role by taking the employee survey of how to do the things better and being wellbeing to all of us which is a good platform.
Virtual Training also imparted to employees to upskills themselves during this lockdown situation so that any free time can be harnessed and utilises to upskills the employees. Learning Development department also conducted several sessions (short) in getting the employee engaged like playing motivational games as a part of stress buster.
I believe by above all points leadership plays a vital role in making employee engaged and communicated.
