3. Although the staff have been efficient and frequently attempting to meet the high demands of the patient, the patient has been complaining of the nurses each and every shift. The charge nurse talks to the nurse manager about the situation. Is this a HIPAA violation? Explain your answer.
1.Nurse and nursing is professon which involves care, sympathy, attention, knowledge, and skills. This is a profession where sympathy, attention and knowledge come together. She is the moving active part in the medical system.
What the care takes that much chances are increased to recovery, because she keeps ethics, responsibility to profession. Nursing intervention plays a vital role in patients recovery status.
As RN Nurse one shold be very much obedient and sincere to hospitals rules and medical ethics, like keeping confidential to patients medical report and history. Do not allow checking medical report in order to solve personal motives. That is against medical ethics and profession. It turns to be a HIPAA Violation.
HIPAA- is a Health insurance portability and aaccountability act which stands against for fraud and abuse in medical field.
2.in accordance with HIPAA norms there is a consultant and patients is very clearly understood with treatment and disease, but not to revel this medical history of patient to one another unless it is officially requird or wanted by the progress of treatment. Sameway one doctor assigned to patient should keep his records with his own supervision , no permissions are sanctioned to chek this report or record by other consultant, unless it is authorized by authority. Checking reports by another doctor without permission is also HIPAA violation.
3.In the case of nursing management, there may lot of good practices must be followed by a nurse especially with patients. Understanding patient and diseases mentally and physically. Knowledge about medicine and its reaction comes out. There will be murmering, accusing. nature associated with patient behavior, most of this due to mental status towards to illnesses. Be supportive and kind enough to patient always.
