A hospital has an electronic medical record system that includes physician documentation, clinical decision support for every possible case when a doctor has to make a decision for the actions to be taken in a patient case to satisfy various compliance regulations and also a picture archiving information system. What features would you expect in this hospital electronic medical record system that support the safety of patients in administering drugs? Is the latter aspect of such system something that can be expected to be developed before or after the features ensuring the hospital compliance with existing regulations? (answer must be 20 lines)

Electronic health record system is the most commonly practiced technical feature in the healthcare sector.The features like barcoding system in electronic medical record system is an innovative method.This can reduce and prevent medication error .It can help the nurse to prevent overdosing or underdosing of medications. The right patient and right treatment can be initiated to all patients. This improves the patient's safety.The patient care technology has greatly reduced the workload of the healthcare professionals through its artificial intelligence. It enables the patient predictions upon conditions and the necessary intervention.Thus preventing unnecessary consequences and medical expenditure. If used accurately it can improve the quality of care. If not used appropriately it can be a base and a strong evidence for fraud and abuse in case of any legal issues.

If it is developed at the initial period or before it can improve quality of care ,patient safety,no medical error, etc., If it is developed after then the risk for error and increased work load is very high among the health care workers.Even if the hospital complies with the existing rules and regulations these advanced system and further improve the quality of service.
