Although this technology can lead to a quicker diagnosis and cross-collaboration of providers, there remain some potential pitfalls. For this week's written assignment, in a 1-2 page paper, research potential issues with the use of electronic medical records? Discuss the issues and define the problems. Provide applicable prevention tips to the issues. Finally, in your opinion, do you think that these issues can be 100% eliminated? Why or why not.

The potential issues with EMR and the related problems are;

• work flow; due to difficulty in using of the electronic techniques many people find EMR to decrease efficiency and decreased patient care.so many EMR systems are cumbersome and time consuming
• errors in documentation; chances of placing inaccurate information in the record and carrying it forward.
• interruption of the doctor-patient relationship;to enter the details about the patient it would take more time and therefore it creates distractions with the patient and doctor.

potential tips to prevent the issues are;

• Don't assume that immediately after the implementation of the new system, everything will run very smoothly and could achieve high result.Becasue there would be some staff who would be less productive and less familiar with the EMR system. Therefore, it would take some time to learn this. So, always expect that there would be some lag in the learning phase.
• utilise additional resources during transition; since people have to become familiar with the EMR documentation, it would take some time. So, don't rely just only on the EMR, rather depend also on the hard copies(paper) unless they became familiar with the EMR system.
• Take your time; to document the details of the patient, they should be given some time before, the next patient arrives.But, it should not become a burden for the patient as well as staffs and the doctor. A proper training and simulation can be done to improve the efficiency.
