Encouraging Ethical Conduct: What behaviors can leaders model in order to encourage ethical behavior in their organization?
The leaders of an organization serve as role models to promote a ethical culture within the organization:
The board of directors and must always comply with the rules that are set by the organization. If the leaders do not abide by rules, then it sends a wrong impression to the subordinates.
The leaders should convey the message to the subordinates , through their actions that the reputation of the business is of utmost importance for the organization's long term success.
The leaders should develop transparency and accountability. They should accept the responsibility of any wrong doings and reward the behavior that supports the culture of transparency within the organization.
The employees should be provided training, to help instill in them to develop an ethical culture.
