Discuss strategies to provide care to patients who are from different cultures and may have diffcultural beliefs. What might Advanced practice nurse do if the patient refuses a high -quality, evidence based treatment meant to cure the illnrss because of culural beliefs? How can the APN respect cultural beliefs while still providing quality care? In what ways can the nurse do more than simply "do no harm"?
The influence of culural beliefs in health care service is vast. It affects perception of health, illness and beliefs about causes of disease, approaches to health promotion.
The dilemma is complex. There are many organisations are facing this problems which is not ignored.
* Communication plays a major role in such cases. Explain the importance of health care services in manner they can understand
* Never shows negligence or irrespectiveness to the cultural in order to provide health service
* Respect them and their beliefs
* Talk patiently to understanding
* Give assurance that health care services may not affect their cultural beliefs.
'Do no harm' is one of the ethical principle that each health care workers supposed to follow.In any cause, should not harm the patient by treatment or management methods.
Patient consent or willingness is very important prior to any procedure or treatment. In any case if patient is not willing to do so, even after counselling, it's going to patient and family decision.
