Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans. (a) Phyllum

The classification of organism have a hierarchy which converge from Kingdom, phylllum, class, order, family, genus and species. As we classify viruses on this basis the same idea would be used as the Kingdom will have to broadest classification and the species will have the narrowest one.

Ans2. (D) The viral envelope is taken from the cellular membranes

The mot of the viruses have viral envelops (eg. HIV and many animal viruses), this is the outer layer of the virus when at the stage of their life-cycle between host cells. The viral envelop is taken from the portions of the host cell membranes (phospholipids and proteins), but include some viral glycoproteins.

Ans3. (C) Currently, there are only three orders of viruses

The clasification of viruses can be done by ICTV classification which laid down various rules for the naming and classification of viruses early in the 1970s. There are hierarcy same as that used for classification of organism. There are 14 order of viruses, recognised till now.

Ans. (E) A, C, D

The Herpes virus is a disease causing virus which causes contagious sores, most often around the mouth or on the genitals. These can be inactivated or killed by lipid solvents that can be 0.5% Lysol in 5 min,  by 2,000 ppm (2,000 ul/liter) of bleach in 10 min; by rubbing alcohol of concentrations of 60%–80%. They can also be heat killed by pasteurization or >56°C for 30 min and you can use antibodies to neutrilize the virus.
