Describe five (5) early Motivational Theories.
1) MASLOW'S HIERARCHY OF NEEDS: under this there ate three assumptions, peoples’ needs require some measure of satisfaction; only unsatisfied needs influence the behaviorand , the needs of people are in a hierarchy of prepotency,
2) MOTIVATIONAL MAINTENANCE THEORY: the theory is proposed by Frederick Herzberg wherebyemployees are not directly motivated by certain maintenance factors (such as health insurance), but the absence of such a benefit would cause the employee to look for a job elsewhere.
3) Expectancy theory: this theory is based on the motivational strength is determined by whether or not you believe you can be successful at a task
4) McGregor's Theory X : managers maintain a pessimistic attitude toward their workers' potential, they think they do only as much work as they have to do to keep their jobs
5) McGregor's Theory Y: it suggests managers maintain an optimistic view of workers' ambition. They believe workers want to work and do their best, are capable of self-direction, and can learn to both accept and seek responsibility
