1)Why RA increases the risk of osteoporosis, CV diseases and chronic kidney disease ?
2),Why biologic DMARDs require a trial period of 3-6 months to judge their efficacies?
1.Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease, It attack own body healthy cells and tissues. It causes increase risk of bone loss and fracture in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis.Glucocarticoid medications often prescribed for treatment of RA can trigger the significant bone loss. Osteoporosis occur as direct result of RA. Rheumatoid arthritis is one of the risk factor of rheumatic heart disease. As a auto immune disease it increase the risk of kidney disease by affecting renal tissues. When we treat the RA with Immuno compromised drugs ,we will have immunosuppression and increase the risk of other conditions too.
2.Disease modifying anti rheumatic drugs is a category of otherwise unrelated drugs defined by their use in RA to slow down the disease progression. To prove their efficiency need 3 to 6 months because to observe the immuno compromise condition and to reduce the disease progression of RA.
