200 words... The criminal justice system consists of police, courts, and corrections. Which of these do you think is the weakest link and what can be done to correct the flaws.
Corrections is the weakest link in the criminal justice system. Justice usually consists of three components: Retribution, Reformation and Restoration. In these, perhaps the last two are the most important but that is where the correction system is failing. The jails are heavily filled and particular communities are incarcerated more than others. Corrections ostensibly focus on the retribution aspect, with inmates being tortured veyr commonly and custodial deaths are not rare. This prevents on the criminals reforming and realising the gravity of their crime. This satisfiss the base human desire for revenge but does little to stop crime.
To correct this, jails should have better administration with better monitoring and favilifaci should be provided to inmates to explore themselves so that they introspect. Arrangements should also be made to help them leadl skills and participate in community building.
