# Performal appraisal is the evaluation or assessment of the
work done of the employees. Performance appraisal evaluates the
skills, performance and growth the employees through various tools.
Performance appraisal is important to identify and determine the
overall contribution of an individual towards the growth and
development of the organisation.
Performance appraisal also helps identify those that did not show
any improvement or growth and did not prove beneficial for
organisation.
Performance appraisal is usually carried out by the team manager.
The rewards or awards given to the employees are based on
performance appraisal.
# A nurse is a very important part of healthcare team and provides
services to care for the patient. It is important to evaluate and
measure nurse's productivity. Some of the common methods to measure
nurse productivity are:
- counting the number of working hours for the nurse to patients
per day.
- evaluating the nurse's adherence to standards of care.
- patient feedback also helps evaluate the nurse performance and
help measure her productivity.
- evaluation of how efficiently the nurse delivers care to the
patient also helps measure the nurse productivity.
- evaluation of how efficiently the nurse uses the available
resources also help measure nurse productivity.
# Violence at workplace can take place either between the employees
or client and the employees. Violence can be verbal or physical.
Verbal violence often includes use of abusive language, life
threats, sexual harassment, bullying, gender inequality.
Physical violence mostly occurs in the form of assault.
Some of the factors causing violence in healthcare environment are
:
- stress : patients and the family are often stressed due to
disease or loss of the loved one which often results in blaming of
the healthcare workers and violence.
- Overload and work stress : as healthcare workers constantly work
under pressure and are overworked, high pressure often results in
violence.
- patients with psychiatric diseases are often agitated and
aggressive resulting in violence.
- dispute among the family members also results in violence
sometimes.
- disagreement between the healthcare workers and the patient and
his family can also result in violence.
- lack of training of the employees to de-escalate the issues can
lead to violence.
- unrestricted public access to the healthcare also results in
violence.
