what kind of leadership do you now think might be a best fit for the microsystem level, and why?
MICROSYSTEM LEVEL:
Microsystem level in nursing means small groups of nurses are formed for performing better.
This small independent group of nurses provides care to a specific group of patients.
FOUR STYLES OF LEADERSHIPS :
Autocratic, democratic, participative, Laissez faire.
Among these I prefer participative style because it is a compromise between both autocratic and democratic.
In autocratic all decisions are taken by the leader. This is not good as the subordinates also should be given preference in giving their contributions.
But in democratic the leader values the individual characteristics and abilities of each subordinates. But the members are having more participative role.
In the participative style of leadership, the manager can present his/her analysis of problems and proposals for action to employees inviting their criticism and comments. This will ensure a full study and ensure them for best results, and best quality solution for the problem.Thereby a quality care for the patients.
Where as in Laissez faire/Abdicratic/freedom style/permissive leadership, the members are allowed to perform their own action freely which will lead to poor performance. Each member may be good in one or another task but not in all tasks.Efficiency and productivity will be very less in this case.
