write a few paragraphs about what success as a medical professional would look like
Being a medical professional isn't an easy job. Not only do you have to contend with people who may not be in the best mood, but you may have to deal with high levels of stress. That said, it can also be one of most rewarding careers, and these six traits can help you succeed in the field:
1. Excellent Communication Skills
Healthcare professionals must possess excellent communication
skills, which includes both listening and speaking. They also need
to be able to follow directions and communicate with ease with
patients and their families to explain treatments, answer questions
and understand their needs.
2. Empathy
A successful medical professional puts themselves in other people’s
shoes. Because of this level of empathy, they can feel compassion
for the suffering of others and provide the level of comfort that
the patient and their families need.
3. Physical Endurance
Most people don’t know just how important physical endurance is to
the healthcare field. Professionals in the healthcare industry must
tolerate standing for an extended period of time, as well as
lifting both people and heavy objects. Someone without this trait
will quickly find out that they cannot safely put their body
through the daily activities that are required.
4. Be Able to Respond Quickly
Successful medical professionals will need to act immediately
during an emergency. Their fast action, or lack thereof, could mean
the difference between a life and death situation. Healthcare
professionals also need problem solving skills so they can act
quickly in certain situations.
5. Have Respect
If professionals want to be successful in the healthcare field,
they will need to have respect for their jobs, the people they work
with and the rules. This includes respecting the confidentiality of
the medical field, the wishes of the patients and the traditions of
other cultures.
6. Emotionally Stable
The healthcare field is an extremely stressful career that thrusts
people into traumatic situations, such as death and the suffering
of others. This can lead to stress, anxiety or even a mental
breakdown in an otherwise healthy person. Because of this,
professionals must be emotionally stable and have the ability to
handle high levels of stress without causing personal harm to their
emotional safety and well-being.
A career in the healthcare industry can be extremely rewarding and allows you to make a difference in the lives of others. It does, however, take an individual who is strong and possess the six traits discussed above.
