Explain the implications of management and preventions of cystic fibrosis and Sickle Cell Anemia for the individuals and society
There is no cure for cystic fibrosis(mucus accumulation in lungs ,difficulty in breathing) ,but treatment can ease symptoms,reduce complications and improve quality of life. Close monitoring and early, aggressive intervention is recommended to slow the progression of CF ,which can lead to longer life .
Cystic fibrosis can't be prevented . however , genetic testing should be performed for couple who have cystic fibrosis or who have relatives with the disease . Genetic testing can determine a child risk for cystic fibrosis by testing samples of blood or saliva from each parent .
Sickle cell Anemia: Management of sickle cell Anemia is usually aimed at avoiding pain episodes, relieving symptoms and preventing complications . Treatment might include medication and blood transfusion . For some children and teenagers ,a stem cell transplant might cure the disease .
Sickle cell disease symptom can be avoided by preventing red blood cell from becoming sickle- shaped .ways to help sickle cells stay round include : drink plenty of water . One of the best thing we can do to prevent symptoms is to stay hydrated.
