Fathers of children who have serious health issues face lot of challenges and it can be very distressing for the them. There may be a lot of financial stain required in the treatment of serious health issues, which may cause additional stress. Parents also become more focused on child's illness so they are not able to socialize with others and may not receive the social support which is required. In case of disabilities, the fathers experience more depression and are also less likely to receive support from others. The social support program helps the fathers to share their experiences about the hardships and challenges which they have faced. Emotional expression of the problem and sharing the issues with others makes them feel that they are not alone in this, and other fathers also face the same problems. Some of the topics which might be included are dealing with ones own emotions, learning to cope up with challenges of child's illness, development of social connection with others and also how to handle financial problems.
