Background
Amanda is the owner of CatsCafé located in Timmins, Ontario. In addition to the owner, CatsCafé employs 16 individuals (4 full-time (2 are managers) and 12 part-time). The café serves coffee, tea, soups, sandwiches and desserts. It has a small eat-in area for roughly 30 patrons. Amanda has heard about corporate social responsibility and that it is important but she doesn’t know much about it so she has come to you for advice.
Questions
Implementing a Corporate social Responsibilty means handling a business in an ethical way. Comapnies should be aware of their social and economic rights. Implementing a CSR resonsibility requires volunteering at different levels, staff-friendly environment, participating in the local events and getting involved with local community etc.
The considerations that CatsCafe should take to implement CSR strategy are as follows:
1) The evnivronment of the cafe should be people-friendly.
2) The employees should have effective communication leaving no space for error or mis-communication.
3) The positive environment created by the members would encourage the local people in making the business of the CatsCafe successful.
Skills and knowledge that the employees working at Catscafe should possess:
1) Innovative thinking. Innvoation is critical. One needs to think outside and around the box.
2) The values such as loyalty, empathy should be present in every employee working at CatsCafe right from the the owner to the Managers and part-timers.
3) Clear, concise, interest-focused and interesting communications are invaluable when it comes to developing, implementing and managing CSR projects.
Amanda should communicate CSR in the following ways:
1) Ask the customers coming to CatsCafe about their experience by simply asking them questions verbally and recording their prcious feedback and implementing them for the good of the cafe.
2) One should always be prpared for criticism when it comes to handling a business that to speciallt smething like when it comes to a food-chain or a cafetaria.
3) Connecting with people through platforms like social media by simply putting up offers which attract the people to try out CatsCafe.
Criteria for evaluating of the CSR strategy:
1) Ensuring effective use of resources.
2) Ensuring sustainibility
3) Keeping a check on whether the CSr strategy adopted are contributing in the fulfilling of pre-determined goals or not.
The CSR evaluation is very important factor determining the success of any organisation. It plays an important role in keeping a check on the loopholes and in also proving opportunities for better development of the organisation/company etc.
