What do you mean by cell  wall? Explain the functions of the cell wall.

It is a rigid semi- elastic , supportive , non living and completely permeable  present outside the plasma membrane in the plant cell and in other organisms.

Functions of cell wall ÷

1.  It maintain the shape of the cell.

2.  It provide protection against injuries .

3.  It regulates the osmotic pressure of the cell.

4.  Materials can pass through it because of its permeable nature.

5. The cell wall  helps cell in various harsh conditions.
