What do you mean by growth? Differentiate between growth and development.
Growth
There are changes in the length, width and weight of child's body in the cause of growth and development. This change is affected by the social environment, food and climate etc.we can measure the growth of the child's body. If this increase is more than before, then it is called normal growth.
Difference between growth and development
Growth
1) By growth, the child's consequential changes are measured such as the height, weight etc.of the child.
2) Growth stops after a certain age.
3) The physical growth of the child is not directly related to his development.
4) Along with the growth of the child, it is not necessary that there should be development as well.
Development
1) Through development the behavioural changes of the child such as efficiency, efficiency measure the change in behaviour.
2) Development is a process that continues throughout life.
3) Even after the physical growth of the child is stunted, his development process continues.
4) There is a definite sequence of development of the child.
