DRUG: DEXAMETHASONE
GENERIC NAME : DEXAMETHASONE
Indications
Dexamethasone is a drug used to treat some health conditions such as breathing issues, arthritis, allergic reactions, adrenal gland & hormonal issues, immune system problems, skin issues, eye disorders, bowel complaints, and also for some types of cancers.
Action
This drug is actually glucocorticoid, a corticosteroid hormone. It helps to reduce natural defensive reactions of your body and by this, it will helps to reduces signs such as swelling, itching, redness and other allergic symptoms
Contraindications
Patients with some conditions will never take this drug. The aforementioned conditions are hyper sensitivity towards corticosteroids, untreated or inactive tuberculosis, cerebral malaria, fungal infections,low thyroid level, round worm infections, herpes simplex infection of the eye,
Cautions
Before taking the medicine, assess patient for any history of allergy to this drug or nay other corticosteroids. Collect the patient’s present and past history of diseases (NCD, infectious diseases etc. ) and allergy reactions to any other products
Side effects
Sometimes this may cause headache, stomach upset, , dizziness, menstrual irregularities, sleeping problems, increased hunger, weight gain , muscle pain etc. So take this as per the order of doctor
Drug interaction
Some products that have chance to interact with this drug are birth control pills, cancer treatment drugs like Dasatinib etc., thalidomide, antiplatelet drugs such as warfarin, NSAIDS, isoniazid, mifepristone, Ketoconazole (anti-fungal ).etc. Sometimes this drug can cause false results in some medical tests
