Traditional marketing techniques are those marketing techniques
that existed before the evolution of online marketing. The
following are the prominent traditional marketing techniques:
- Direct sales: This a marketing technique in
which the seller directly presents the product or service at the
doorstep or office. There is almost no permanent location for
retail sales.
- Networking: It is a technique that depends on
the salespeople and business partners to generate leads to market
the product. It is a person to person marketing often facilitated
by the representatives who are independent.
- Broadcasting: This is a marketing technique
that involves advertising products and services through television
and radio channels. This is also one of the costliest techniques.
But, a larger segment of the businesses will not spend much on this
because of exorbitant costs involved with this model.
- Direct mails: This technique involves mailing
Printed letters, fliers, postcards, and product brochures, etc. to
the specific targeted group of prospective customers. This is
expensive because it involves lot of activities like printing,
designs and postage, etc.
- Cold calling: It is a technique that requires
the business through their representatives and executives, to call
the customer who is almost unaware of or new to the product, to
introduce the product and describe its features to solicit them to
buy the product.
- Print media: This is age-old technique that
involves advertising through print media comprises of newspapers,
Yellowpages, magazines, billboards, etc. This technique enables the
product or service to reach a wide and far market space. This
technique may seem expensive but when compared to the cost with
reach, it's not much.
- Referral: This is a marketing technique that
requires your existing customer's advocates for the products and
services. This is also known as mouth publicity. The existing
customers must have an incentive or they should be extremely
satisfied with the product so that only they refer to their
friends, colleagues, neighbors, etc.
- Trade Show: This is a popular marketing
technique that enables the seller to showcase their product to the
target audience and enable them to feel the product and experience
its features even before they own it. This technique influences the
customer very strongly once the product feature matches with the
customer's requirements and expectations.
