A customer satisfaction study was conducted among patients from a number of healthcare providers. The questionnaire included items assessing patient expectations and perceptions of service provider performance across several relevant elements. One respondent appeared to have read the directions and the researcher presumed she accurately responded to the first of the items on the rating scale. She then proceeded to write down replies to open-ended responses. The respondent, a 94 year old woman was doing her best to answer all questions. It was clear that she understood the questions but she did not understand how the researcher wanted her to respond. Was this the fault of the 94 year old woman? Defend your answer.

Expert Solution

It was not the fault of 94 year old woman because there need to be a proper communication related to specific question in the questionnaire and even if she had understood with the details, the researcher should have elaborated her with different questions because of her age, and hence I do not attribute it to the fault of 94 years old woman because of her age and the ability to not memorize things, so the researcher would have played a more effective role by helping her to provide with the genuine and answers by making her understand each and every question and he should have been customised in approach.

the researcher should have put more efforts and should have been more personalized and conducted the research in better manner by detailing out the questions to her due to her age and the ability to not memorize things and hence he should have provided her with adequate support and then she should have answered it in a better manner, so I will not attribute it to the fault of 94 years old woman.
