what is the reversal agent for heparin

Solutions

Expert Solution

The reversal agent for heparin is PROTAMINE SULPHATE.

The dose of protamine sulphate is 1 to 2mg for every 100 units of heparin that has been administered.

Protamine should be given as a slow infusion because it has risk of causing severe anaphylactic reactions.

It's onset starts at 5 minutes and lasts for 2 hours.
