In a barricade situation, the leader or the principal of the school should become the most active person in charge of the situation, directing staff and teachers to take necessary actions. The principal should direct the management body of the school to prohibit outside elements to enter the school premises, using barricades. The principal of the school should be a master orator and highly vocal to convey her decisions, beyond the barricades. He or she should be capable enough to reduce the panic prevailing in the school among students and teachers, by asking them to be calm and composed, and keeping them informed about the current situation. He or she should contact the nearest police station to intervene in the matter and take control of the situation. He or she should inform the police about the prevailing conditions so that the police can take appropriate decisions, and act accordingly.
