What is the effect of high levels of heparin in blood?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Heparin

  • Heparin is an anticoagulant.
  • Heparin inhibits the blood clot formation.
  • Heparin used as an anticoagulant in several medical procedures like dialysis, major surgeries where the chance of blood clotting is more.

Since, Heparin is an anticoagulant if a person with high level of heparin on blood was in risk for excessive bleeding even for small injuries.

Because normally the blood clots when bleeding occur within a time it clots. But here the presence of high level of heparin in blood prevent the blood clotting.

Heparin act on the action of other drugs also.

It influence on the clearing rate of the other drugs.
