ANSWER:-

1. AS AN HR MANAGER IN CANADIAN BRANCH THE FOLLOWING SHOULD BE DONE TO ACHIEVE EMPLOYMENT EQUITY AIN ACOORDENCE WTH EMPLOYMENT EQUITY ACT.

  • it requires to focus on and take special measure for these 4 groups:

       women,

       person with disability,

       aboriginal people

       and minorities

TO DO SO I WILL START BY:

promoting equal opportunities and fair treatment in employment through elimination of unfair discrimination.

no gap in salary for men women of equal ranks.

zero tolerence policy for discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, religion, and race.

implementing affirmative action measure to redress the disadvantages in employment experienced by designated group.

consultative forums to be properly constituted .employing a representative of each designated group in this consultative process.

along with these lots of other steps can be taken to improve employement equity that will depend on the circumstances we face .

2. canadian workculture :-

- canadian workplace culture is more egalitarian than most of the cultures in many countries. that means it believe that all people are equally important and should have same rights.

- canadian employers give indirect feedback, they do not critisize you directly they will hide the critical message in positive wrapping and some will believe that they are being praised.

- in canada soft skills that is interpersonal skills are considered even more important than hard skills.

- in canadian culture employees are responsible for their own careers. managers will not suggest a promotion for your years of hard work on your own, you have to let the manager know that you are expecting a promotion

-here you ahve to continue building your network. networking is vital in canadian culture.

3.   whenever we enter in a new workplace culture it is always a bit difficult to adapt to that and follow that new change. canadian culture is kind of progressive culture, once you have understand it you can certainly get positive result from it, by avoiding misunderstandings for example: canadian culture is egalitarian so they respect other people rights and canadians respect private space. i personally find canadian workplace culture unique and positive.

4. as a manager i can do the following to improve workplace engagement :

- provide incentive for employee participation

-provide bonus for standard and more than standard work.

-giving individual attention and encouraging and guiding them.

- providing training and coaching to improve their skill . it will boost their morale.

-listen to employees. when they want to suggest something and tell something, manager by listening to them , can make them feel like they belong to this company.

-recognize their efforts and recognize them publicly, loudly and proudly. whenver they do something worth praise and appreciation , give them a public recognisation, this will lead to encouragement and increase their satisfaction.

to protect employment at canadian workplace we have to comply with employment equity act and reduce discrimation of any kind to minimum, encourage and support our employees, make them satisfied and create a positive work enviornment.
