Changes would expect to occur in Human Resource Department are as follows-
1. The presence of labor unions can change human resources procedures in the human resource department of an organization.
2. When workers unionize, human resource department must work through the union to determine policies, and, in some cases, to resolve grievances. Without unions human resource manager interact directly with individual employees to resolve grievances and performance issues.
3. Union laws prevent employers from interfering with their employees’ right to organize.
4. Human resource manager must have to bargain with the union on hours, wages, vacation time, insurance, and safety practices, as well as on how operational decisions will affect employees.
5. Must prepare for negotiations, and provide training to manager for this task (negotiation).
6. If agreement allows employees to indicate that they would like to pay their union dues from their paycheck. This makes human resource department accountable for ensuring that the deductions are administered accurately.
7. Unionization decreases the power or sole authority of human resource department and now they have to discuss the decisions with unions before taking any decision related to the employees (union members).
8. Human resource department have to follow all laws related to unions.
9. Labor union contracts contain specific guidelines for HR department and union leadership in handling employee complaints and issues about working conditions.
10. It makes Human Resource managers liable for all union employees’ dues and that they are processed correctly and submitted on time.
