why is it essential to have a good understanding to what dementia patients face when working as a nurse or medical staff member?
dementia is a chronic or persistent disorder of the mental processes caused by brain disease or injury and marked by memory disorders, personality changes, and impaired reasoning.
the nurse or medical staff should have good understanding of what the ptient is facing because treating dementia is all about giving the patient .a person centred care
a medical proffestional, be it a nurse or doctor needs to have a good understanding of what a patient is facing in order to provide best treatment to the patient.Because in order to have a better outcomes of the disease the clinical staffs should promote activities/practices which are more patient foccussed, because a patient of dementia requires much more care and attention.
the medical staff should interact with the patient, should what all he is going through, so that he could allow patient to have familiar objects around, they are required to frequently orient the client.
the medical staff should be very understanding of what the patient is facing so that he is able to orient the patient properly.understanding the person with dementia helps to proovide person centred care and support. Finding right people for support for people with dementia can make a big difference in the quality of life of the patient.
dementia care should be valued as a skill work. the medical proffesionals should engage themselves to spend more time with the patient so that a comprenhensive environment is given to the patient.
