What information do you need to obtain from L.W. and why?
What options does a woman experiencing a pregnancy have?
If your role is to assist her in making a choice, what information will you want L.W. to
provide?

The role of nurse throughout the pregnancy is very important and if the pregnancy is unwanted and not by choice then it increases much more higher because in this case may be the nurse in the first and the only with whome the girl might be discussing about. so the responsibility for the nurse here in this case is more as nurse have to counsel the L.W.
While counseling the L.W. nurse should take care of that this counseling should be two way interpersonal communication so that the L.W. able to get comfortable with you and can share the heart out. in such counseling the women able to know what other problems can occure before taking any final decision and freely able to express her feeling and worries.
To begin with the counselling you must welcome the women with smile and good eye contact and make her sit facing you.
Reassure her that what ever she is going through and whatever she will tell will be fully confidential.
Allow them to speak about their worries and feelings and listen to them carefully and with intrest.
tell her that the the decision will be her about the continuity of the pregnancy but you can advise the women by making her aware about her condition and dengerous issues if any. ask if her patner can also come for counselling and help her to take decision only if she wants.
Let her know about the options she have for the pregnancy:
1. parenting i.e; giving birth to the baby and taking care of the baby.
2. abortion i.e; taking medicine or a medical procedure to the pregnancy.
3. adoption i.e: giving birth and giving your child to someone else permanently.
let her know how her decisions will affect her future, her family.
ask her if she is ready to take care of the new born. Exactly what time she have to make her final decision in to avoid any complications.
Nurse's moral and ethical obligations in this situation
1. identify the ethical procedures which can be considered in such case and discuss those with the womren instead of adopting the imformal or unethical means.
2. advocating patient and trying to involve both parents in making the decision.
