Obesity is a healthcare disperity in the US.

Obesity is a healthcare disparity in the US.
Situation:
Inequity is a factor that influences the person's healthier life. Safe places, Healthy food, physically active are related to obesity and illness. African-American contribute to higher rates of obesity in the U.S. More than 75% African Americans are overweight. Obesity increases at higher rates in the earlier ages. Lower income and the poverty are also associated with the obesity. 42.7% of African-American children are living below the poverty line. Increased exposure of high-caloric and low nutritious diet is more among blacks than the whites.
Background:
Obesity is the biggest health challenges in the U.S. It leads to serious health issues of high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, coronary heart disease, stroke. Physical inactivity and beverages increase the obesity rates among young adults. Racial and ethnicity further worsen the obesity condition. This makes the people of social isolation and discrimination.
Assessment:
The cause of obesity is excess fat. It can be determined by calculation of BMI. If BMI is greater than 30% then it is considered as obese. Assessment is based on age and sex, weight and BMI. BMI of 95th percentile is considered as obese. It increases the risk of development of chronic diseases. Several other factors such as physical inactivity, metabolism, behavior, environment, and culture should be assessed for obesity. stress is another factor associated with the obesity.
Recommendations:
Increases awareness of health disparities and persistent problem of obesity. Expand the use of resources and reduces the disparities. Take steps to close the gaps and improve the quality of life. Setting priorities to address at the state, federal, and at local level. Make investment program in obesity prevention. Health policies and health program should be implemented. Limitation of sweetened beverages. Nutrition assistance program to improve a healthy life. Close the equity gap between the black and white Americans.
