Short answer questions
1) Know the primary distinctions between qualitative and quantitative research.
2) Know how to define internal and external validity and how to protect against threats of both.
1)
2) External validity is the process of validity of generalized inferences in which the scientific research, are basically based on experiments as experimental validity. It is process of extent to which the results of a particular study which can be generalized to other situations and to other people. Mathematical analysis is the external validity which concerns the determination of the generalization of heterogeneous populations is feasible, and devising statistical and computational methods that produce valid generalizations.
Internal validity is the process which refers to the how well the particular experiment is done, especially whether it avoids (more than one possible independent variable acting exactly at the same time). Hence, internal validity will refers to the how well a piece of research allows us to choose among the all alternate explanations of something. A research study with high internal validity helps us to choose one explanation over another with a lot of confidence, because it avoids possible confusion.
