Solutions

Expert Solution

Part A

There are different theories of motivation, Expectancy theory is one among them and is also famous as well According to this theory there will be a conscious choice among alternatives by the person whose purpose is to maximize pleasure and minimize pain.

It developed by Vroom and has three components expectancy, instrumentality, and valence.

  1. Expectancy: effort → performance (E→P)
  2. Instrumentality: performance → outcome (P→O)
  3. Valence: V(R) outcome → reward
  • Expectancy refers to though that desired his effort will result in desired action.
  • Instrumentality refers to though that their will be reward when his actions are met.
  • Valence refers to value the person give for the reward he recieves

Organizational Justice refers perception from all angles mainly

1: Pay

2: Promotion opportunity

3:No discrimination : (Caste, colour, creed, Sex).

These Theories can be applied to any organization's profit or Non Proft .

Part B

For a healthcare nonprofit organization

  1. Expectancy would be something like the thought that work would lead to patients recovering and getting their life back.
  2. Instrumentality for the staff would be getting the pay in time and regularly , getting promoted and the satisfaction of working for a social cause.
  3. Valence for the staff  is the importance of the role he has paid in the heathcare department .

Organizational Justice applied to health care include treating the healthcare staff equally without any discrimination job grades . For example a Nurse also should get the same acceptance as the doctor's since the nurse will be with the patient and takes care of the patient 80% of the time. Another example would be removing the gender bias in terms of pay. A Male or female doctor should be given same pay for the same grade and same job.
