We assess skin and eye diseases, wounds, and bites, More specifically, we identify diseases related to the skin, mucous membranes, and eyes. This includes those diseases related to wounds and bites. Concluding objectives are discussing the components of a healthy nervous system.
Additional Notes: I found this in my textbook, perhaps it can help answering the question.? "Staphylococcus aureus can cause substantial tissue damage, especially when it results in an MSSA infection"
Concerned about MSSA Infection
MSSA Is a common communicable disease that affect the skin and mucus membrane of individuals. This is a highly contagious disease, hence so much concern must be given to this infection. The organism can easily spread from one person to another via touch, skin to skin contact etc. MSSA stands for Methicillin Susceptible Staphylococcus Aureus. The organsim is a strain of S. aureus. This can cause serious complications like sepsis in an individual if left untreated. This organism will be epresent in the mucus membrane of nose in all most all individuals, who have close contact with MSSA infected persons. But the individuals in his early stages of infection, never shows any signs and symptoms. the organism also has the capacity and ability to stay and grow in surfaces like bed of the patient, door handle, case sheets, articles used by the patient etc. Hence the spreading chance is very high. Hence it will be very difficult to identify the presence of this disease.
But once they gain access to the blood stream they can cause serious deadly infections like sepsis in the victim.Apart from sepsis, they are also responsible to cause serious skin infections, meningitis, surgical site infections, cellulitis, pneumonia, toxic shock syndrome etc. The organism is capable of producing serious life threatening conditions in even immuno compramised patients also.MSSA strains are very common now in community setting and making many of the individuals infected. hence so much concern is needed to address this issue.
Effective use of antibiotic therapy and early identification of the organism will prevent further serious complications in the individual. Antibiotics cream are applied to the nasal cavity for decolonizing the organism. Apart from mupirocin, erythromycin, clindamycin etc oinments are also very useful. Early recognization of the organsim can save the life of the individuals to a greater extent.
PREVENTIVE STRATEGIES
1. Early screening
2. Early identification and treatment of the condition
3. Proper following of handwashing techniques.
4. Try to keep the open body parts, open body wounds etc as much as clean
5. Avoid unnecessary touching to mouth and nose.
6. Avoidance of over crowding in community as well as hospital settings
7. Do not share the items like tooth brush, plates, towels, razors etc as it can easily spread the diseases
8. Avoid unnecessary piercing of body parts like tattoing
9. Avoid needle stick injuries in health care providers.
10.Proper cleaning and handling of the infected items by the cleaners in hospitals
11. Proper bio medical waste discarding to prevent the occurance of disease.
12. Administration of nasal antibiotic such as mupirocin or use of any other nasal and mucus membrane antibiotics
13. Contact precautions must be followed while handling infected persons
14. Adequate patient and community teaching regarding the source of infection, transmission of infection and prevention of infection.
