INFORMATION SYSTEM

An Information System (IS) is nothing but any organized system that organize, store, collect information. It was group of components that interacts to produce information. It is also an academic study that deals with specific reference to information and the associated networks of hardware and software along with people and organization to collect, filter, create, process and distribute data across different domain.

Few IS are designed to support, manage and in decision making process. It includes information and communication technology (ICT), which an organization uses also the way in which the users interact this technology to make use for their business process.

Note : Information System was completely different from Computer System and Business Process.

There is basic architecture available for Information system, which 4 level structure, that includes

                    1 Executive Information System

                     2, Decison Support System

                     3. Management Information System

                     4. Transaction Processing System

In day to technical life either in academic or job oriented environment we may come accross the following Information System tools below

   1 Data Warehouses

    2. ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)

    3. Enterprise system

    4. Expert System

    5. Search Engines

    6. Geographic information system

All the above tools or methodologies are used to effectively manipulate the Information System, which is too helpful for the Information System Engineers.

Very Basic Experience for Information System in day to day life in your institution, consider of Ranking system. It doesn't need any complex tools or algorithm.

Just the student mark information along with basic information like name, department, scores in individual subject, overall score and few other details to genarate the rank of each student among the class, even amoung the institution.

The basic tools required here are excel sheet, even make ledger is enough for situation like this.

While consider a organization like Bank Information System, in which the system is busy with millions of transaction every minute and its need to withstand with all such heavy process, we need to go for the tools like data warehousing, ERP and other complex solution to manipulate the Information System.

Like this there are various Socio-technical experience we have with information system, some examples are Ticket reservation, Hotel booking, e-books, business management and various part of functionn we are using the Infomation System.
