Solutions

Expert Solution

I support rational choice theory of crime in criminal justice system.

This theory of rational choice considers individuals as rational actors. Individuals are capable of making their own choices, including choosing to commit crime. It considers that an individual is a reasoning actor who weighs means & ends, costs & benefits & makes a rational choice. Rational choice theory perceives the human as one whose interests lie in maximizing pleasure and minimizing pain. The rational choice perspective has been applied to a wide range of crimes, including robbery, drug use, vandalism, and white-collar crime.

There are many merits of this theory.

Rational choice theory cab be easily applied to nearly every form of crime such as robbery, Murder, rape, vandalism & white collar crime. Rational choice theory allows for scientific explanation which is necessary for supporting evidence in criminology. Rational choice theory stresses that crime is calculated and deliberate. Rational choice can be applied to a number of criminal behaviors, such as organized crime, corporate crime, and violent behavior.
