Theories of criminal behavior are as
follows:
- Psychological theories: it is the
psychology of a person if they would want to indulge into some
activities or if they want to refrain from the same. This may be as
a result of lack of education, behavior disorders, lower IQ or
antisocial beliefs. Crimes may be as a result of the personality of
a person, which becomes their major motivation.
- Sociological theories: the
sociological factors influencing a person would be financial
issues, lower socio economic status. So,w may also be as a result
of economic as well as social factors.
- Biological theories: these theories
state that criminal behavior would be embedded in the biology of a
person, which have been explained by Y chromosome theory, or
psychodynamic theories of trait.
Theories explaining criminal
behaviors are:
- Social disorganisation theory: this
theory states that the society or the community is disorganised in
itself and this further leads to criminal activities leading to
break down of the social controls present in a community.
- Y chromosome theory: this theory
states that the criminals would b having me chromosome that would
be giving them an extra XYY makeup.
- Neutralisation theory: this theory
had been introduced which states that the criminological wisdom
that is present in the society, would be engaging in crime only
after they are asked to follow rules or violence.
- Differential association theory:
this theory states that criminal behavior would be learned from the
personal groups that are intimate with one another. Learning would
be through commitment of crimes, along with attitudes of
rationalisation.
