can government criminal & justice handle violent
offenders?
Note : This question is related to Criminal Justice
system in america.
Americans are rethinking the country's criminal justice system which is appropriate and necessary yet debates, conversations and policy prescriptions related to this issue are rooted in sound data.
There are five critical elements of the criminal justice system; nationwide crime rate, prison population, costs of reincarceration, individuals killed by police are with assessing and evaluating. Despite speculations about nationwide crime surge, crime rates are near the lowest levels in decades. However, over the years the prison population has increased by 340%. The incarcerated population is a function of the number of offenders admitted to or released from prison. Many of the factors are the result of public policy choices which vary with nation's political mood. The proportion of women prisoners has increased since the 1990s.
A revolving door system in which three-quarters of all felons commit new crimes within five years of their release guarantees excessive rates of incarceration and criminal justice expenditures as far as the eye can see.
