Expert Solution

Answer: Ageism can be defined as the discrimination which is caused due to person's age. It has major impact on the mental health. The societal views also causes several consequences such as degrading the physical health. This lead to decrease wish fir living, less desire to have healthy living etc.

It also impact the rate of recovery from the various illness such as stress, depression etc. This indirectly reduces the life span of a person. If the healrhcare professional will not look after their elder patients, this would lead to increase rate fatalities. Negligence would cause medication error. The adverse action of the drug will become more common.

Health care providers should indulge themselves in evidence based practice. This will provide platform and framework for them to provide quality of care to the elder patients. The healthcare professionals should also stick to the ethical principles and use effective communication skills to interact with the elder patients.
