  2. A group of population with disabilities find it difficult to qualify for Medicaid.
  3. Medicaid is very crucial for the health of population and also allows protection economically.
  4. The main cost of expansion amoung states is funded by the federal government and not state government. Hence expansion is easy as well as economically viable for states.
  5. Expanding the Medicaid among states will promote the economy and address all the uncompensated healthcare issues.
  6. To provide quality healthcare coverage to all people in a way that they can afford it is the basic duty of any government.
  7. It is a good move for long term reforms in the upcoming future and will help to improve the healthcare functionality while reducing the cost shift significantly.

Cons

  1. Another strong point against the expansion is that the people who do not have health insurance are already provided with basic health services and sometimes absolutely free of cost
  2. To expand at such a large extent can be expensive for states.
  3. The money that is going to be use for expansion can be used in other better health reforms.
  4. It is assumed that Medicaid can bring social dysfunction among population.
  5. Instead of expansion, states can ask for concessions with right and reasonable terms.
  6. This reforms significantly reduces motivation to do work.
  7. It can be a big problem for the private insurance providers.
  8. It is expected that it will bring a shortage of primary care physicians and will increase the cost of coverage.
