Proteins consists of many individual units called AMINO ACIDS
which are interconnected by peptide bonds.
Non essential amino acids which exist and are synthesized in the
body. There are 11 non essential amino acids.They are listed below
along with their sources.
- ALANINE - sources are meat, poultry, fish, eggs and dairy
products.
- ARGININE- Foods rich in arginine include nuts and seeds , meat,
legumes, seaweeds.
- ASPARAGINE- Foods rich in ASPARAGINE include dairy , whey,
beef, poultry, potatoes, asparagus.
- ASPARTIC ACID- sources are Oysters, luncheon meats, avocado,
molasses, sugar beets and artificial sweetner aspatame
- CYSTEINE-found in most high protein foods such as chicken,
turkey, yoghurt, cheese and sunflower seed.
- GLUTAMIC ACID- sources are meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy
products and kombu.
- GLUTAMINE- sources are vegetables like beans, beets, cabbage,
spinach, carrots and also in wheat, papaya, kale.
- GLYICINE- sources are meat, poultry, fish, eggs , dairy
products and legumes.
- PROLINE- pork, lamb, veal, dairy and egg products , soups,
sausage and gravies.
- SERINE- soybeans, nuts, almonds, peanuts, walnuts and
lentils.
- TYROSINE- almonds , pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds soy products,
beans, avocado, bananas, cottage cheese, milk and turkey.
