1) Amino acids are compounds containing amine and carboxyl functional groups, often refered to building blocks of proteins, play many critical roles in human body. They are classified into two catagories. Essential and nonessential amino acids. Essential amino acids cannot be made by the body. As a result, they must come from food. They are required for many vital processes like the building of proteins and synthesis of hormones and working as a neurotransmitters.
The human body uses amino acids to make proteins to help the
body in the following ways.
1) Break down food.
2) Growth
3) Repair body tissue
5) Perform many other body functions including
neurotransmission
