(7) How might geometry be used to build a feeling of community?
You are asked to design a table for annual meeting, which design will you choose rectangle, square or circular so that everyone is able to see each other comfortably. Of course, the choice will be circular table (hence these are called round table conferences). But for designing the car parking of your society the choice will not be circular (as it will lead to a wastage of area) rectangular grids will be better suited for the purpose.
Geometry not only affects how we share resources as a society it also affects how we feel. Just imagine how you will feel entering into a party hall with low ceiling and compare it with another party hall with very high ceiling and spacious arrangement. The big hall will be more pleasing hence the mood of the guests will be happy and relationship between people will be filled with joy.
Many of the modern day devices such as GPS which allows us to travel from place to place uses the concept of geometry.
City planning - design of community parks, hospital, places of worship all help in building a feeling of community and support harmonious living atmosphere.
