The health, disease and the risk factors for development of diseases were discussed in ancient texts in the world,especially in Ayurveda. The meaning of Ayurveda, literally means the Veda of life which includes description of various diseases and disorder and their treatment. The ayurvedic system of medicine not only includes the medicinal preparations to treat a particular disease, but also includes the importance of environment, the food habits, personal behavior and life styles. The risk factors mainly emerges from the lifestyle to cause a particular disease. If we don't correct the risk factors and environment that makes a person ill, should be corrected first along with the medicinal preparations. Then only the complete cure for diseases and prevention for the same can be achieved.

The system of Ayurveda is translated in to various languages like Arabic. The other systems like Siddha, Unani have similarly with Ayurveda .

The main illness affected by the people are cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes etc.
