Although both liberal and conservatives, Republicans and Democrats, are guilty of a post-truth politics do you think one side or a particular person is more responsible for it becoming a characteristic of U.S. politics? Explain why and provide evidence of your argument. After careful examination of this topic did you find that you hold any opinions that are not factually true (Be honest)? If so, do you continue to hold such opinions? Do you think that a post-truth politics is now a characteristic of our political system, or can we move beyond it? What are some ways in which we might move past post-truth politics?
Both Republicans and Democrats are responsible for post truth politics, however, Republican Party is more responsible fro the mess. I think so because it was this party who started it in extreme mode such as the "birther" or "Muslim" conspiracy theories about Barack Obama. Yes, I did held opinions that were not factually true like I opined Obama being secretly Muslim. After I have digged deeper, I don't continue to hold such opinions. Post-truth politics is now a characteristic of our political system being used as a tool in order to emerge as a winner as we have seen it in the last presidential elections as well. We can move beyond it only if we concede the uprightness of information regarding current events as well as about the individuals of public interest and importance. We need to set up a correction mechanism against rumours and lies, increase transparency by understanding the source's credibility. The other ways include, quality journalism needs to be supported and uplifted while as people need to be made aware about the misinformation.
