The protection of steel structure is very important as it is better to prevent the things rather than curing them. These structures are very much affected by the moisture and various gases present in the atmosphere as they may lead to the corrosion of the steel and would reduce the strength of the structure and that may lead to many consequences. So we'll discuss about the protection as well as the repair of the steel structures and the first priority should be given to the protection part and if somehow the structure is being affected then we should think about the repair of these structures.

Protection : Steel should be protected by providing various coatings on it by which that coating would be affected first and these coatings should be of the metal which is economic and less important by the construction point of view. The steel should also have fire protection and below are the different coatings which would be helpful for the protection of the steel structure from different problems.

• Boards and Blanket fire protection system
• Spray cementitious and gypsum based coatings
• Thermally sprayed coatings of Zinc and Aluminium.

Repair : The repair part is also very much important as just by the help of it the structure would regain its efficiency and this is being done by the maintenance work or the repair of the corroded or the defected part. For the defected part it is generally considered to do the welding and for the corrosion parts they are being sprayed with several materials or specially paints so that they would regain their strength as well as shine and the repair work should be carried out in the presence of the trained members and proper checking of the structure should be done with regular interval of time.
